What do you like to do?...do it together!
It is important that you do things you enjoy together! This means things you BOTH enjoy. Try to find something you can do together. Do you both enjoy the bookstore or going to the movies? If you are clueless what your spouse enjoys then sit and talk with them. Each of you make a list of the top 5 things you enjoy doing. See what matches from your list! If nothing matches in the top 5 then keep making the list...a top 10... top 15... you get the idea! The point is that being married is no longer about just you. When you see most newlyweds... they are with their spouse! They enjoy spending time together! They make the effort to find things they have in common and to do those things. Somewhere along the way in marriage that gets lost. People start to do the natural thing and focus on themselves. Or the kids leave and they have been so detached from their spouse for so many years (taking care of kids or working) that they don't know what they have in common anymore. So if you want to have a marriage better than newlyweds... it will be a long lasting marriage... where you still want to make the effort to be with your spouse and do something you both enjoy. Once you get the hang of it... it won't take much effort.

What does "Better Than Newlyweds" mean?
People always tell us..."oh, you are just newlyweds...things will change." They mean for the worse but we want to have a marriage better than newlyweds.
